Whether you’re a girl or a guy, the annual Fitness competition has likely inspired you to swap your usual eats for healthier options. But it may not take long before your lunch hour starts to feel a bit like groundhog day–eating the same boring, but oh-so-healthy meals every day. If that’s the case for you, consider this guide your personal liberator.

Where to find 10 excellent salads within 10 minutes of the office.

Tin Angel

Location: 365 West 400 South, Salt Lake City, Utah | $10-15

This quaint and cozy restaurant uses sustainable, local ingredients as much as possible and offers house-made dressings. Try the Arugula and Sliced Beets salad. Parking is limited, and located on the East side of the restaurant.

Canellas

Location: 204 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah | $8

A little piece of Italy right in Salt Lake City! Try the Canellas Italian Salad with their house blend (a mix of blue cheese and Italian dressings). This salad is topped with beans, beets, and pepperoncinis and can be phone-ordered to go.

Wild Grape Bistro

Location: 481 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah | $10

This award-winning bistro is another local restaurant focused on fresh, sustainable, locally produced and often organic, products. Everything we’ve tried (from salads and soups to fish entrees) has been excellent. But watch out for the bacon–they feature it in many dishes. (And, it might be pushing it to get here in 10 minutes…more like 15!)

Rumbi Island Grill

Location: 358 South 700 East, Salt Lake City, UT | $8

If you’re looking for something fast, try the Voodoo Chicken Salad from Rumbi or one of their island rice bowls with brown rice. Quick, healthy and delicious, you can’t go wrong.

Quiznos

Location: 2993 S 5600 W Unit B, West Valley | $8

While their salads come on iceberg instead of hearty greens, Quiznos is another option if you’re looking for something quick. You can be to Quiznos and back in 20 minutes (we’ve timed it!) with their latest addition to the menu: an Asian chicken salad.

Copper Onion

Location: 111 E Broadway # 170 Salt Lake City, UT | $7

For a simple, but delicious, salad, head to this newly opened restaurant for a sit-down lunch. The arugula salad with sherry vinegar and olive oil dressing is pleasing to the palette. If you’re lucky, you may even hear local Cellist Eli Potash playing in front of the Broadway Theatre.

Cafe Zupas

Location: 613 East 400 South, Salt Lake City, UT | $5-7

Try a Zupa’s specialty salad or create your own with a mix of greens, nuts, berries and veggies. It’s another great option for a quick lunch with a location now open on 400 South near the old Hollywood Video.

Oasis Cafe

$8-12

Simple, fresh and delicious! This sit-down restaurant is a great atmosphere for a working lunch. From Asian to Greek, and Caesar to beets, all of the salads are balanced and flavorsome. If you have time to spare, browse the Golden Braid bookstore next door for a book on health, mental and spiritual well being.

Tony Caputo’s Market & Deli

Location: 314 West 300 South, Salt Lake City, UT

The local experts on Italian and Southern European foods, Caputo’s sandwiches usually come on a big hunk of white, white, white bread. So, swap the sandwich for one of their salads (the poached salmon, perhaps), and treat yourself to a tasty, light lunch.

Red Rock

Location: 254 South 200 West, Salt Lake City, Utah *Salad prices are approximate

Another great to-go option, Red Rock salads aren’t just for the ladies. Try the New York Steak or Pork Tenderloin salad with a side of carrot chips. You meat-eaters won’t be disappointed.
